When i ride i feel comfortable, and they look a little tiny tiny bit long, but not a lot, my fella took a pic today, face on, and my legs look like theyre sticking out sideways!!!! i think this is from trying to keep my heel down where there a little long....

So where do your stirrups fall to? ankle bone? shorter??

Mine are a little below my ankle bone......

I ride long, but my legs are always 'on' and 'wrapped around', and my feet never stick out... As a result of this my lower leg is bowed, I'm cow hocked and I'm pigeon toed haha!

You can end up looking like your bracing on you stirrups if they are too long, lower leg forward, in front of the knee, heels very low? Is that what you mean?

If so, they are probably slightly long. Try taking them up a hole, or even half a hole, makes all the difference to me, I usually have to punch extra holes in my stirrups, as if my leg is a tiny bit long, I literally can't ride haha, not so bad if they are short, I just end up looking like a jockey...

This is one of my pet hates...people telling me I ride to long. I know that the stirrup is 'supposed' to go at your ankle, but it just feels too short.

My advice is, if it is comfortable then it is correct, and big RASPS to everyone else :D

I have terrible position. I ride way too long - anything else makes my leg hurt (old injury) ... For jumping I have them "short", just under the ankle  ... for dressage, hacking, etc, I have them long, about level with the bottom of my foot. It wrecks the way I sit (I "reach" for the stirrups and for the horse), but better than long term pain.
