Hi all,
I unfortunately broke my ankle quite severely in two places in a riding accident involving my foot being caught in the stirrup 3 weeks ago and have had surgery on it. It's now held together with many screws and plates!
I am already thinking about getting back on and the rehab process, and I want to invest money into a pair of stirrups that will help my ankle. They MUST be safety stirrups as after my accident I can say I will never ride in non safety stirrups again.
I have heard Flex-Ons are good, but they are not safety ones, I have also seen LeMieux do a pair that look similar and are safety stirrups, but I have not heard anything about those.
What do people recommend? Price isn't really an issue, I am happy to pay up to £300.

I broke my ankle back in May ‘19 and now have pins and plate in there. When I started riding again I was really worried about what stirrups might be suitable as had seen that some people had struggled after injury and felt they could only use the flexible stirrups. Luckily I have actually been able to ride in both flexible ones and non flexible ones (only ever ride in safety stirrups now though!).

I have gone with the Mountain Horse Safety Stirrups from a few years ago. I think that Flex-on do do a safety version so maybe worth you looking at those too. There are a few other makes out there that do some newish fancy safety ones so be worth doing a bit of research on Facebook too. I also joined the group on there ’Riding after replacement & other injuries’ which was really useful.
