STIRRUP RECOMMENDATIONS

I need to get some new stirrups, I use currently safety irons , the bent ones and my instructer asked why I had these as she feels that they don't help my foot position in my flatwork lessons and feels that I try something else, silly me didn't ask for her suggestions but I will next time.

Anyhow I know there is a vast amount of expereince on here so what would you suggest, I am concentrating on dressage , I do not do any jumping, but hack out. I only take a 4.5" stirrup .

sprenger, expensive but worth it!

I replaced my bent leg irons with thorowgood t6 I think they are called. Although that is on my jump saddle. My dressage saddle has stubben knife edge although probably would have got the sprenger ones for that saddle, if I had the cash. I think the grey of the t6 would look funny on a dressage saddle but I'm not so bothered about the look when jumping!

I have sprenger bow balance ones and love them and use them for everything bar showing.

the sprenger ones, definitely, either the normal ones or the bow balance ones, i have both and can't feel much difference actually.

No question...sprengers..latest version 4 way bend. Great for the knees and good for your position. Worth every penny. Last for years.

Thorowgood T6's. As good as Sprenger and cheaper!!

I agree with the Sprengers people! If I had been after the "normal" Sprengers I would have got the cheaper Thorowgoods but I have just bought myself the Bow Balance ones having tried them once and found them really nice. I now need to ride LOTS to justify the £85! Sure they'll be worth it though!

recommend a good bendy stirrup as above! Sprengers are the best but expensive. I got a very good imitation pair off ebay but not a clue of make anymore. The key is more links the better as gives greater flexibility to the stirrup.
