Hi everyone looking for stirrup recommendations. I am currently just using the iron safety stirrups but my knee hasn’t been agreeing with them!! Have dealt with this for a few years now after injuring some ligaments in my knee. So looking for some stirrups that could hopefully fix or ease this pain. I would also prefer to have a safety option too. Please write your recommendations and how they have helped you! Thank you of reading

I use Sprenger (straight) safety stirrups and have hacked in them once or twice a week for the last 22 Years.
They were recommended by my RI who worked with RDA and was anxious lest my cantering about would wear out my elderly joints.

I dont use thicker leathers. I am like the princess with the pea when it comes to stirrup leathers and I have fine soft Italian leathers. current ones are by Amerigo.

The horse I hack is on her annual holiday and I caught a bad cold from OH, so I dont want to give the impression I am wonder woman. But I love riding and I take my own leathers and stirrups and put them on the saddle of any RS horse I am given to hack.

Most of my riding is done in short Ariat boots and I have a feeling the soles of those boots have some give in them. They are not like cheap short boots that children wear and which I too wore in my first year of riding.

Another for flex ons - I have the aluminium version and they help my ankle, knee and hip pain massively!
I can’t ride in normal fillis irons for more than about 10 minutes before I have to stop!
