I seem to be having a lot of trouble putting weight into my stirrups lately and gripping with my lower legs. I have developed a habit of gripping with my knees (bad i know) but even when i realise i am doing so and stop gripping I'm still struggling to put the weight in my stirrups. Any exercises or advice you can recommend?

Have you tried the Achilles stretch done by balancing on your bottom stair on the balls of your feet and dropping both heels down equally for a hold of a few seconds then up, and repeat a few times but always equally and controlled? Also riding without stirrups and doing leg stretches, swings, jockey position, etc. And someone on the ground to assess what your stirrup length and leg position look like. Good luck! My legs are pretty bad these days so I'll be looking out for other ideas too!

i haven't tried the achilles stretch may have a go at then when i next get on, ive done some non stirrup work but doesn't seem to have made any difference. I'm getting better at keeping the weight down in trot but struggle more in canter.
