Stirrup woes... Free jumps causing bruises

I don't know if it's my position or not before I start...

Every time I ride my foot slips forward, this in itself doesn't actually bother me but because this happens the top of the stirrup digs into the front of my foot and even though it only happens for moments at a time (before I adjust my foot) it's causing bruises.

I don't ever recall it happening with other stirrups.

Has anyone else had this?!

There is a lot of grip on them, so I'd be surprised if it was that. Is this for all types of riding/hacking/schooling etc OP?

May sound like a stupid question, but have you got them on the right way round? The tread is sloped slightly, and very grippy. I don't have a problem with slipping.

I have had the same problem with the school horse i ride, the stirrups bounce around then my foot goes further into the stirrup which bothers me because her canter is enough to throw me off and i don't want to be dragged. Her stirrups don't have grips, i could be a problem with the length though, one of the novice leaders ajusted my stirrups and they were long and my feet started slipping
