Brought my friend lovely 16.3 boy in yesterday. He is a sweetheart but was a bit snorty.
Put him in his stable and he spooked sideways as he went in. Don't know how we managed it but I was slammed face first into the bridle hanger outside. You know the circular metal ones cue lots of blood wailing from me and 3 and a half hours in A&E . I am not pretty and have internal and external stitches.
Yard owner took one look at me and took it off the wall.

I is currently looking monster ish and in bed with cat.

:eek:OUch..sending liquidised cake & hugs, get well soon & thank God it wasn't your eyes.. Its frightening the amount of trully horiffic freak accidents that happen with things designed specifically for horses/yards..also shows the importance of liability insurance-never worth the risk of not having it with even the gentlest of horses..heard someone only the other day say they would never need it..despite that being illegal -made me very weary of standing anywhere near her!:o Wishing you a very speedy recovery and second the arnica.

Hope I won't get shot down for this but once stitches are out, yarrow(blue) & lavender pure essential oils are both amazing for healing even deep wounds to virtually scar free..worth thinking about even if you are sceptical, simply because its your face. You can apply them with aloe vera or in a base carrier oil or cream-my friend ripped her hand open across the bendy bits and bled like nobodys business, once able to, she applied lavender several times a day & there is no scarring what so ever & it healed up within a week despite being constantly in use, the scarring was gone within a month..its antibacterial too - yarrow is amazing esp if you are unlucky & get any infections on cuts or on horses with abcesses..neither sting which is a huge bonus xxx

Poor you! Hope it heals quickly and that you don't frighten the kiddies at Christmas! I can imagine that's quite sore, so have a gentle hug. (())x

Like the idea of lavender oil not hear of yarrow and have no Arnica at mo but will ferret in cupboard.
I have cancelled my Vogue Cover photo shoot.
Only downside is I have an eye condition which means I can't wear glasses to correct my vision so I have to wedge my eye open enough to put a contact lense in.

Sorry to hear of your accident, i hope you heal quickly.
When my son had an accident that involved many facial stitches
(he was only 9 ) we were recommended CICA . You would have to get your doctor to prescribe but is like a gel sheet that has all sorts of other properties in it and helps reduce any raised scar tissue. It helped his cheek but his eyelids were lacerated and unfortunately we could nt keep it on there.

What a nightmare.
Glad you're *relatively* ok. Just goes to show how easily accidents can happen with seemingly benign day to day items though.
Get well soon :)

Ouchie! Poor you. Second the yarrow and lavender, also the Arnica. I took Arnica after my c-section, I had a platelet problem which meant I was horrendously bruised and lost lots of blood. The doctor and midwife said to use Arnica and it really did help. Hope you feel better soon xx

Poor you - hope you feel better soon.
Remember - arnica pills are great, the arnica cream though, is only for unbroken skin.

afaik, arnica taken orally is considered a dangerous herb by the FDA as it can have toxic effects... I wouldn't recommend it

Hope it heals ok, OP. Nasty...
