Stock help

For Christmas I got a lovely stock and pin.
Only problem is I can’t tie it!!!
I’ve watched hundreds of videos, and I can do the first bit, but the folding then pinning absolutely baffles me. I can’t do it at all. I just make horrible pin marks on the fabric and it all falls out. What am doing wrong??? Please help… thank you…

Use lots of little safety pins underneath to hold all the bits together before you use the stock pin.
If you see a hunt servant with their jacket off you will almost certainly see loads of pins round the edge of the stock.

So the actual pin is only for decoration?

The last pin part is the crossover to hold the two ends in place. There are some really easy to follow videos about try www.aandwh.co.uk it shows you in still pictures. Remember the original purpose was to be able to use it if required as a bandage hence the stock pin.

Great… so you just fold them over each other..
Does the pin go through just the front two flaps or the knot also?

If you can get the pin through the 2 flaps and part of the knot it will stop the crossover drooping down. If you can’t do that use more little pins underneath to hold it up.

Thanks!! Ok, I think I know what to do. I’ll try it once I get home! Hopefully I’ll be hunting tomorrow and able to wear my stock
