Jazzy got the all clear from the equine physio today which is great news, but she said that he now needs to work properly to strengthen his abs to raise his back.

I need to have "goals" to aim for, and do want to do some stressage with him at some point. I have heard excellent things on here about the SLRC but the dates on the website are disappointing. . .

Do they run them in the school holidays? I teach in a state secondary school and there is NO WAY that I can take a day off (even either side of a weekend) to ride, which is a shame!

Doing a camp like this (I did one with my last riding club) would give me soooo much more motivation and enthusiasm as I would know what we are capable of achieving, rather than saying that we "might" do something in the future . . . !

hey.
I don't know if you woudl be interested but I have organised a camp for a group of us at the livery yard I keep my horse. Its 21st-23rd August. The more the merrier! Have a list of local instructors too so if you wanted tuition u could organise some. It is about 40 pound per night inc human and horsey accomodation inc hay and straw. We are going self catered though. PM me if interested

I've also just found out that Pontispool do weekend camps.

Which are better? I've not heard as many people talk about the Pontispool ones. P is nearer to us than SL, but I just would like to meet some more horsey people in this area, and get some more motivation to do things with my very beautiful and fabulous horse that I take very much for granted and could be doing much more!

Is there any reason why I didn't get many replies to this thread? I've seen people on here raving about camps. Maybe I'm not in the "in crowd" . . .!

If I comment on a post then I seem to be the last one. Maybe my opinion doesn't matter. I think I'll give up :(

You did get a reply from kerry flower! I imagine people haven't commented as they don't know the answer, not because they can't be bothered to reply. I think that there aren't many camps in the holidays as they are all booked up for pony club camps. Our riding club does a camp at S. Lovell and we start on Friday pm; my friend who is a teacher too misses the first session but joins us for supper and drinks later on! Is this an option? You would still get 3 lessons!

Yeah I sent Kerryflower a PM and got a great reply. That was nice.

Yes, I thought about doing that (about just missing the first session). I think that would have to be my only option if I wanted to do it. It would just be nice to meet some new horsey people from this area (most of my friends are over Wincanton way) and get Jazz out to new places!

I will look into that!

Thanks Mabel98 x

A`freind of mine was saying that Bickton do camps as well, that might be worth looking into if you're not too far away from there

Hi there, I am a Taunton gal, have done the SLM camp in september every year since 2006 which are amazing get to meet loads of lovely people, great food and really good chance to polish up my riding in the excellent lessons.

PM me if you want any further help!

Thanks Annagain - that's really helpful - I will have a look into Bicton as well. A friend is studying down there so might be a good chance to meet up!

Thanks EJW as well - it's nice to have some feedback of the actual camps, rather than just reading their website! Will PM if I manage to sort dates and finances!

Thanks x
