Stomach buffer suggestions to feed with Danilon

My oldie is now on Danilon for his arthritis. He’s like a youngster again with it but he is getting a very messy back end while on it. My vet has suggested Protexin Gut Balancer which we have used before and I’m using at the moment but it’s not helping. Before I call asking if it’s worth getting him some omeprazole or the sort, is there anything else worth trying? Protexin Acid ease seems to get a good write up. Someone has suggested Omega products. I worry at his age there’s maybe a chance of hind end ulcers.

You could try gut sponge first. Cheaper than omeprazole. You can feed sponge with the gut balancer

Omeprazole blocks acid production and doesn’t do anything beneficial for gut function so isn’t going to stop loose droppings.

In the first instance I’d look for a good yeast probiotic and get some Psyllium husk.

I use the acid ease on one of mine as I suspected she had ulcers. I did ulcer treatment and put her on AE
and she’s done much better this winter than last.
