Has anyone heard of or used this company for their equine insurance? I am with NFU but am looking at other companies this year.

Haven't used them but they advertise regularly in Horse & Hound and are located close to me in Godalming. I used to know the owner's daughter and as far as I'm aware they agre quite legitimate.

We use them for trailer insurance. Never had to claim so nothing further to add other than they seem quite competitive.

They are probably a good insurer, I haven't used them but just because they advertise in Horse & Hound doesn't mean they are a good insurer.................... E&L advertise there as well?

I've used Stoneways for many years and always been very pleased with the service I've received. Most recently, I sent a payment off for a renewal on my old girl's veteran policy. Sadly she was PTS a couple of days before the renewal came into effect and they returned the premium with no admin deductions as soon as I emailed them.

I'm insured with them & have been for years. Have had one tack claim & a PTS claim for my previous horse. Both were paid promptly & I was dealt with in a fantastic, sympathetic manner. I can't speak highly enough of them which is nice as I have a friend who insures with someone else & has had nothing but trauma & awful service from them & I really feel for her!

They've been great for me for a few years and paid out without an issue. I'm about to make another claim so fingers crossed I can still recommend them next week! Great phone customer service.

I have been with Stoneways for some years and for 2 of my boys. They were the cheapest I could find. I made a substantial claim for KS surgery etc and they paid out next day despite not having agreed the treatment. I made a further separate claim for suspensory damage and treatment, they could quite easily have said this was linked to the KS and therefore the same claim, and I half expected them to do so, I was delighted when they again paid out in full the next day no quibble. I have never heard anything bad about them and I'm not sure why they're not used more. They are easily as good if not better than NFU etc... :)

Absolutely brilliant insurance company.

Can't imagine ever leaving them. They were amazing for me last year. No questions asked, just sorted everything out without any quibbbles at all. And that was three weeks at horsepital, surgery, loads of physiotherapy. All paid without a problem and the leg isn't even excluded :)

I have also used them for years, but have been lucky enough to never have to use the policy. I think there prises are quite reasonable.

Good point...the KS and anything associated is excluded but legs aren't despite the suspensory issues...even better :D

Two of my ponies are insured with Stoneways, they were very competitive pricewise. I've not had to claim, hopefully I never will have to.

Brilliant company - can't recommend highly enough based on my experience.

My sister and I have 5 horses with them, 4 big claims in 4 years (same horse!), all paid out without any quibble at all and very, very quickly. We're quids in for about another 6.5 years! The horse doesn't even have ever many exclusions on him - 3 of the 4 claims were legs and as they were unrelated to each other no problem at all. None of this silly 'oh, he had a cut on it 4 years ago, so you can't claim for a suspensory' stuff you hear about some other compnaies.
