Hey everybody, nearly killed myself last night. How?... I inhaled a plaiting band I had in between my teeth, whilst plaiting over a newly pulled mane. Cue a lot of coughing and spluttering and the horse looking at me as if I were crazy. I truly am a Genius! Got me thinking though might be amusing to share your stupidest injury stories. Any takers?

Sorry - I had a giggle too, it was the thought of you nearly lasoeing your tonsils!

I was pulling a rug off a ledge a few days ago and the strap with heavy metal fastening on the end richocheted and hit me in the mouth. Lucky I had my mouth closed (unusual) as it would have knocked my teeth out. Had a peculair purple bruised mouth - looked as though I had been sucking blackberries.

The other thing I did recently was hauling on a haynet to get it out of the water soak tub and the string broke and I fell over backwards into a really muddy patch. My little girl who helps me was really controlled and didn't laugh at all...(bloody good job too!!!!!!!)!

Ask Cazza about the first time I tried to rug up the Moose by myself.....I thought she was going to rupture something she laughed so much.

The rug was a heavyweight turnout, the Moose is 16.3hh, I am only 5ft - i went to throw it over her and it somehow flipped in midair and landed on top of me and I nearly fell over. I think Cazza has got video of it somewhere...

Ive recently fallen flat on my ar*e in the muck heap after emptying my wheelbarrow and split my lip open on the buckle when pulling a rug off the wall. I also wacked myself in the eye with a headcollar buckle. Im feeling really stupid now as this happens to me all too often! still, at least you're not the only one! xx

I expect loads of people have doen this, but i have lost count of the amount of times i have punched myself in the mouth trying to do up a girth before getting on when its wet!

alsxxx, yeah done that, one day did it with mane conditioner on my hands and smacked myself in the mouth. One of the funniest was when we had our first horse and the ground round his stable was a bog, sister got her boot stuck in the mud, I went to help her, we were laughing so much as we were both stuck that when she got her foot free, but not her boot, that we both ended up sitting in the mud, still howling with laughter.

One when I had outgrown a pony when I was a kid (just before he went to his new home) I got on him and lost my balance and fell straight off the other side

No real injuries other than dented pride!

At work we have the "Ship of Shame" award for the person who has done the stupidest thing each week. That would be a strong entrant!

I've had quite a few leg ups and been thrown off the other side by people not realising how light i am!!

I've mashed myself in the face many a times.

I once got bitten in the neck by my pony when i was looking over his door to check his water, it turned into a big purple looking hicky!! everyone thought my bf at the time had done it and didn't believe me when i tiold them it was my horse!!! lol!!

I smacked myself in the eye yesterday with the chest strap on Ellie's rug. Just trying to do it up and realised the strap part was turned underneath so bent down and flicked it free. Straight into my eye

I was schooling and swallowed a fly it got stuck and i started to cough then coughed so much i started to choke!! my mare took me back to the barn and the farrier was there and she was going quick get her off, by this time i was retching down the side of my mare!

I was running up the muck heap plank this winter, it was starting to tower so you had to run!! and slipped on the S**T on the ramp, my hands fell down with the wheelbarrow and the minging deep litter of about (whispers 6 weeks) fell straight on top of me burying me in S**T!! was funny but I had to get into my new NON HORSEY car!!!!!
