Posting on behalf of a friend who is going to be doing the Wainwrights Coast to Coast ride with her horse for charity.

She is looking to get somewhere booked to stop the night in the following places:

Starting in St Bees
Threlkeld area
Raisbeck area
Grinton
Faceby/Swainby
Ending at Robin Hood Bay (we have this one sorted!)

Has anyone done this ride before? Could you offer any advice or links/ contacts which I can pass on to her please?

I haven't done that ride but I took my old horse on a week's trek in Wales a few years ago. Had a rough route in mind which I firmed up once I'd found places to stay overnight.
I rang up random livery yards, riding schools, farms etc and asked if they could put horse up for a night. Some places had a bed for me, others had space for my tent.

Sorry this doesn't answer the question directly but I found people to be very helpful when approached politely. If you don't ask, you don't get etc ;)

BHS have a book which lists horsey b&bs which might be worth a look.

I didn't realise it was possible to do the coast to coast ridden, that must be amazing, my mum has actually done the walk twice now, i remember when they booked the walk, they used a company called Sherpa Van, this is for walkers, they moved on your luggage etc., maybe they could help or know of livery yards around etc?
