Just heard one of the D I Y liveries was stopped by the police on her way to the stables. She was allowed to carry on but other cars were turned back. This is a fairly rural area where the police are as rare as hens' teeth. He was waiting in a lay bye.

If I am being fair, I would say that in a rural area, they may be trying to stop people travelling unnecessarily to walk their dog, have a picnic etc. However, I know I am very cynical but I suspect some police are rather enjoying their increased powers unfortunately and being a bit overzealous in some cases.

I'm in a suburban area and there are definitely more police cars on the streets. I've seen more cruising about in the last 3 days than over the last 3 years ... here too, it's likely that people from town might try to park up to walk on the south downs.

Haven't been stopped yet but our yard is providing us with laminated cards with the farm details on it so that we can show we have legitimate reason to be there, the farm is having a lot of problems with walkers who don't stick to the public rights of way.

We have our horse passports in our cars to show we are horse owners. They normally stay in the towing car but that’s not going anywhere now. Not that a policeman would probably know what a horse passport looks like, especially as mine is Italian! Not been stopped yet.

Before anyone says the passport says they should stay at the yard with the horses, we don’t have anywhere secure to leave them.

My husband went to Newmarket to get some fertilizer, papers in the car just in case, he said it was really busy, plenty of traffic. The horses were out as usual at about 10ish.

On Contracting Enquirer website today a contractor (unrelated to where I work) was stopped on his way to work at a construction site and fined £60 by police.

Amazing that police don't know themselves what the rules are when the government are keen for us to continue.

We have all been issued with letters as we are able to continue work as confirmed by the government so long as it can be done safely and in accordance with Public Health England guidance.

I hope he will appeal it. If he was travelling to work that is permitted. The police are being dangerously over zealous

We are seeing an unusual number of police vehicles and officers and I am wondering where they are normally when we go months without seeing them. Anyhow the good news is that they can't stop the sale of Easter eggs from shops which are legitimately open.

I think he should, I think its one thing stopping people meeting others, going to the park in the car, etc, etc.

It's another to stop their livelihood on a misunderstanding. He was a skip driver apparently https://www.constructionenquirer.com/2020/03/31/police-stops-create-more-confusion-for-contractors/

I feel really sorry for construction. Some sites have had to close because lack of support from subbies, when I say lack of support I mean they don't want to deliver materials and goods, either because the manufacturers of these items have closed, or because they are closing. So it has a huge knock on effect.

Halfway through typing this I've just heard this is the situation on our site and I've been told after Friday it's 'ADIOS' to me. I don't mind to be honest, I won't get paid, but hey, I have savings and I can find other work as I'm a temp. There's plenty out there at the moment, unless of course the government hold a complete lockdown.

I'm looking forward to a week off and a few interviews in the interim.

I've just asked my boss if he will have me back and he's said "110 percent" so pretty glad about that as I totally love where I'm working :)

A friend at the yard is a police officer. She says they are eerily quiet. So I expect they will have “spare” to be doing checks. I am going to crisis team every other day so they are going to give me a headed letter With a phone number on so police can ring to confirm. Going to yard I have passport in car anyway and there is only one route along with jodhs and wellies I hope they realise it’s true.

Hopscotch B can’t you get him to furlough you instead? That’s the whole point of the scheme. If you’re an employee, since 28 Feb 2020.

Hi no I am one of the few who are outside any government help because I am a limited company contractor and have my own company registered at Companies House. Unfortunately this is how a lot of agencies are set up these days, either umbrella or private limited and I never had much choice if I wanted the contract.

I am unable to receive help from the Government because I am my own director. Its explained thus:

A Limited company contractor is not entitled to SSP unless they are an employee of their own limited company, and that also applies to other statutory payments such as redundancy. Some people might think that it is an automatic assumption that you are an employee of your own limited company but, it is not.

There have been various cases on this subject and the general guidance is that if you have a controlling interest in the company or are the sole shareholder or sole director and cannot be dismissed, then it is unlikely that you are an employee of your own limited company.

The perm guys on site have a conference call in a few minutes to discuss furlough so I think they will take it. Good luck to them is what I say. I have applied for 3 jobs since I found out I am leaving an hour an a half ago! I'm just glad they want me back as I love my job so much, I'm really happy there and feel appreciated.

A friend sent me this which says the sole director can be furloughed. A28B04EB-29EB-4F3B-AC48-E7CDA86011F1.png
You should be able to claim yourself for 80% of your average earnings of the past year.

Fingers crossed hard for you on that.

On the stopping, it's such a delicate call - it's fairly deep country here and I admit I take a second look at new faces when I see them right now. And I totally and utterly get the need for distancing - but equally can see how the odd trip to green country could literally be a total sanity saver for many people.

Obv, responsibility is key - you drive out, you see a few cars where you meant to walk, you turn back. You take sanitiser to spray on latches.....

I also understand the police want to nip potential problems in the bud.....but they need to be so careful not to be seen to be too box-ticky.

It's a very hard one. I'm sure we'll get it right in the end.

That will be 80% of salary element only, not dividends, but if correct will be a huge relief to many. It was a glaring hole in what had been announced.

Wish Derbyshire were a bit more zealous, we still havepeople driving to ‘the countryside’ walking through farmyards, climbing over gates with signs asking politely to keep so out, ignoring signs, letting dogs off leads near lambing or about to lamb sheep..

Today i had a break at burton in kendal services.
There was a car there with the boot open and two spaniel pups in a cage in the back.
A landrover pulled up and the driver went over to the car spoke to the driver and then was given one of the pups...he put the dog in a cage in the landrover then had a conversation with the car driver.
It did look to me like he had bought the pup and they had met to hand it over..leaving another pup to be delivered somewhere else.
I also saw 2 hot beds on a flat bed trailer and wondered if hot tubs are selling well at this time!

Having lived inside our own personal police and armed army guards cordon (military plane crashed nearby) we had to be signed in and out. I had great fun going for a hack signing out at one road block and signing in at another. I also had great fun riding down the middle of a deserted A road that is normally very very busy ie difficult to cross going from one bridleway to another!! We even had our own personal armed guard at the end of our drive for 3 days and nights not quite sure why but it is a claim to fame.

Well Derbyshire have been the most heavily criticised force.

They have threatened a shop keeper with prosecution fir criminal damage for putting chalk marks on the pavement to keep her customers 2m apart while waiting to come into the store. She's limiting numbers inside due to social distancing.

They have followed and filmed people who are following the guidelines by walking in pairs and observing social distancing. Then posted it on social media inaccurately implying people are breaking the law.

They have tweeted suggesting that cycling in lycra is not permitted under the rules.

They have put dye in the water at a beauty spot to discourage visitors.

They have used ANPR on vehicles being used lawfully to identify how far from home they are.

They are repeatedly giving misleading statements about the new laws.

This is not acceptable hence they have been criticised by a supreme court judge and former government minister.

I have every sympathy regarding loose dogs, and this absolutely shouldn't be happening but people are allowed to go for walks and can continue to use rights of way.

Perhaps give them a call about your specific location so they can loiter and deal with one ones who should not be there. I have every sympathy as still people are disregarding the stay at home requests. Rather pleased McDonalds et al have closed as we no longer have their litter out on the road.
