Our 8yo bitch is a very greedy dog and she really bolts her feed. Unlike the older dog, who is quite picky and will only eat what he needs, she would eat an entire bag of dog food if you let her get to it. She is fed enough, is generally fit and well, so it isn't as though she's starved! We feed ours twice a day (same amount as they would get in 1 big feed, just split between meals) because the older dog struggles to eat enough in one "sitting" and ends up leaving food. If we feed twice, he can manage both meals.

We are now getting to the point when she's making herself almost sick because she's bolting her food so quickly. Can anyone suggest how to slow her eating down? I wondered about putting something inedible (ball, toy, etc) in the bowl with the feed, like you would do with a horse to slow it down, as they have to eat around it?

Thanks
