well, i have no particular problem in the school, apart from the usual antics

however, i went out galloping with him the other day and my hands came back, not in a good way plus i had NO way of stopping him fast or controlling him generally. the fact is the bit i have now is completely useless for him and i can stop him eventually, but when the ground is wet and muddy like it was yesterday, that is just not safe. so i was thinking of changing his bit to gain a bit more control. at the moment i ride him in loose ring snaffle which i like but i have come to realise that this is just not strong enough to stop or turn him. so i was thinking of changing it, but to what i have no ideas as yet? can anyone suggest a bit for me, thats not to extreme but will be more successful in stopping and turning him.

If you were going to do it progressively, you could start with a hanging cheek (I'd probably try a french link mouthpiece as well if you want to stay with a jointed bit, but that's just personal preference), then perhaps a kimblewick, then a pelham. A waterford might work if he's leaning... Antifaz and PF have always gone well in dutch gags, but plenty of people think they're the work of Satan and not all horses go well in them
