Right I have run out of space indoors and need to find a way to store all the excess numnahs and saddle pads I have accumulated in a shed. I need a water/vermin-proof solution for them. What do you use?
Large/deep clear plastic box with lid - and lots of chopped bamboo cane 'holders'.
Find a box with an internal lip (lots for around £5 - £9 in the cheap shops & supermarkets), get canes, cut to length so they sit on the lip from side to side.
Then hang numnahs/saddle cloths on - easy to see & get out too![]()
I use a very elderly plastic suitcase - works perfectly - I also put rugs in these too

Excellent idea; I may have to buy more numnahs to justify such an elegant storage solution (I'm real a storage geek....)
I think I love you.
Will you come and sort the rest of my house out too! That is a genius idea!
Mine are in a wooden chest like so -
But I am liking the plastic box and bamboo canes idea better!
The council very kindly gave me 3 wheelie bins. I refuse to use as them as they are security hazard on more than one count but they are great for storing rugs and seasonal items in, safely locked away behind a high fence.
If you put your bin out before you go to work, it's clear to everyone that you are out all day when it sits outside your house til you get home. Maybe that's what fatpiggy meant?Question - how exactly are wheelie bins a security hazard??? Genuinely curious!
