Hi there, this will seem like a stupid question but as this is the first full winter of having my own small yard, I've not had to worry about this before. I've got a large round bale of haylage, it's quite dry haylage but the top got wet in today's rain as its stored outside. We put two massive plastic hay bags over the bale and tied rope around the middle, secured the bottom of the bags against the wind, and left it as we are off abroad tomorrow. I'm worried the whole thing will go off over the weekend, but we have to store it outside and I don't know what to do. Please could someone advise? I am absolutely no expert on haylage, as you can see, as my two normally have hay but we couldn't get any covered bales and they had to be bought in bulk before the winter.
