Mine are out and it is PI**ING down here ... both sporting their Fly Rugs ... I do hope they are in their Field Shelter ..... mind you that is on metal skids, so I hope the lightning doesn't come
Mine are out - we had a storm at 6ish and it passed - OMG I wish I had looked at the rain radar, it is absolutely hooning down now, to the point that I cannot hear the TV, this is serious rain like last years floods

Just had the worst one up here, not only were mine out in it the young one was just stood outside the shelter, head down apparently enjoying a 'power shower'! I did think about getting them in but with the lightening overhead would rather they could get in the open, I was also watching from the barn and would have got wet
In the winter Hen would be in, but its so bl00dy warm here a bit of rain won't kill him! I imagine hes enjoying it after all the muggy days!
Its chucking it down here ATM.
Always try to put mine in the stable if i no a thunder storm is heading this way, as years ago i had a pony killed in a thunder storm, so it bothers me.
well due to the fact they cant get the forecast right,my lad would have been in all weekend....apparently we were getting heavy thundery downpours.....still waiting, lol
Genreally leave him out. I keep him at a yard 6 miles from home and the weather can be very different. If we have a storm at home I could rush up the yard to find it dry, or it could be nice at home and I'm completely unaware that there is a storm.
Out because everything else is, but I always panic about it, as my mare did go through the fence at night a few years ago when a bolt hit the ground near their field (I heard the bang 8 miles away at home!!!!!). She isn't scared though of storms bless her, but I am!
I did take her muzzle off though, as it had a metal clip on it and I got it in my head it might get struck by lightening!!! (yes I'm nuts!) - luckily she doesn't have shoes on!
tabby was out last night as it only started at 11ish and stopped at 5ish but it was so hot i think she would have enjoyed it and all the others are out and she wont stay in on her own
its sunny again now so she will have dried off
Out, a bit of rain won't kill them, even a poncy type like Gertie! They'd probably appreciate it after the hot weather anyway, and i think it's better for them to be out when it's cooler rather than in the burning heat (in my case anyway, I have no shade at all in my field)
Out of interest...where the horses in or out when they were struck...? I presume they had shoes on...?
I have ALWAYS put my horses out in a storm after I lost my first pony when lightening struck the stable block she was in and another horse was seriously injured trying to escape.
I would rather my horses were in the field where they can run about and act like 'horses in a storm'.
I prefer mine in as worry about getting struck by lightning ... just read on another forum that rumour has it poor Pebbly Pepperpot the top coloured pony was found dead in the field this morning, suspected lightening strike.... how awful
Mine are out, not sure what my TB is like in storms (I doubt he has ever been out in one) but my pony and aunts shire don't mind and go into the little wood for shelter. I am worried about lightning striking the field but there is A LOT of metal in the stables (metal gates etc) that I am worried about aswell so hoping that they will be fine in the field.
Ours stay out. We have a sub-power station in the next field and it got hit last year - didn't bother them in the least!! (Thank God for lightening conductors)
