Storms tonight

Last night was horrendous, we had a bit of snow mixed in with the rain early doors but now the sun is out and the wind has dropped for a bit front garden/path looks like we put in a pond!
Stay safe everyone and I hope you all have a good Christmas despite the weather and chaos it brings.

The ponies will have to wait for their check. I can't get out of the house until I've cut up the tree that's down across the driveway... *tootles off to get chainsaw*

its so calm here. neighbour been to rescue trampoline from my garden and fix the fence so dog cant get out. Didn't like the drive at 530am it was horrible but best thing was I could come home go back to bed for an hr before LO got up but she slept in till 10 so go even longer.

Hope the damage isn't too bad for everyone and your journey's for Christmas are safe too

We had a horrendous night... Howling in the chimney was that strong it sounded like bleeming Cape Canaveral with hte house about to take off. Fence panels are down, satellite dish did a runner, few tiles are off the wall, roof is leaking in places... Neighbors had tiles going through the roof of her conservatory:mad:. Power went off for couple of minutes at about 2am in our place but apparently the village still was off mid-morning. Roads are flooded or covered with trees, field where I use to walk the dogs is a lake...
At least no flying trampolines...

Now the tree's out of the way I've had time to do a full damage inspection. Nothing too bad, although one of our ash trees is now in the neighbour's garden :(

I've never seen so much water come down so quickly. We've got lakes in every single one of the old clay pits. My tack room is also under 2" of water, but that's standard when we've had a storm.

We survived ok here, but everywhere outside is saturated. I was going to bring my 3 in overnight, but because the wind and rain had stopped by 5pm yesterday, I left them out as usual. Cue crazy winds and torrential rain to restart later on!

I'd given them plenty of hay in their field shelter (I'm not haying them routinely yet) and they clearly decided to stay the night in there, as there were 20 piles of droppings in it this morning! Usually there are none.

Wind is picking up here - and some!!! Blowing an absolute gale. And it's f-f-f-f-freezing! Must be coming straight from the flippin artic. Horses are coming in tonight.

I have lived in a very sheltered area for years with my horses, I have since moved up the bank { a month ago} to an area that is SO windy and cold, but my horses don't seem to give a dam, they are out with just rain sheets on them, they don't even shelter from the rain, { they mostley live out}

The culvert in our village didn't cope and the houses on either side of us were flooded. We were lucky, the raised patio area saved us, another centimeter.... The back garden has a river running across it.

The yard was partially flooded but thankfully all the stables and storage areas are dry. All the hoof holes (poaches??) in the paddocks are full of water and in some places have combined to form poolss.
I kept my horse in on Monday as she dislikes being turned out and I didn't want her jumping fences again to get back to her stable. She was kept in today also and looks like she will have another few days in until the paddocks have drained a bit. She will not be complaining. She is as fizzy as anything to ride though especially as the wind is still howling. Going to be an interesting few days.

Been horrendous here, I know of at least 2 field shelters (one of which was almost new) that were destroyed, flooded and closed roads and local bridge that apparently started to fall apart . Elec was out in the towns either side of us and houses were flooded. Luckily my guys are sheltered by a hill and in a dip so survived unscathed

We're quite lucky here, about as far inland as you can be in the UK, and whilst it's not pleasant, it's not horrendous either! Boyo loving being in 16/24 atm tho, he is such a wuss, ALWAYS waiting by the gate early in wind/rain! Big brick built barn, so he is safe and secure whilst in

Was that the bridge at Stur? Saw photos. Very nasty. I'm currently on Portland, but from N Dorset. Drive down wasn't pleasent.

It was awful in kent. One big tree down in our field right along our walkway but horses were all fine thankfully and just lots of branches and small trees down apart from that.

Not so lucky at home - lost 14 fence panels and three trees in the garden. But again no damage to people or animals so that's all that matters x
