ummmmm ok i hold my hands up but I stress not on regular basis - my daughters 2 ponies both loved it(found out when cheeky one was caught slurping from my step fathers can) so xmas morning they wiuld share a can in their feeds and ummmmmm i still do for my two now - I was told many years ago it was good for them not sure if thats true but always found they like it s its a xmas treat - gosh am i a bad mum lol
Definately good for them - one horse on a yard I worked in had one daily over winter when hunting hard. He looked fantastic.
Beer is also good for early stage colic, I have a drenching gun which has at times been used to give one of the school ponies a bottle of beer - he used to get just niggly bouts of colic and the beer always worked.
phew glad im not a bad mum lol - ok stout is supposed to be good for iron - my mother was told by doc to drink a can a day as doesnt eat meat but thats some years ago lol - personally i wouldnt give to much - acholic horse eeek - i wouldnt more than once a week if you felt horse needed it - i personally keep it as a treat but others may have more ideas at end of day there are such good feeds and supplements out there so giving a horse achohol on regular basis(which is what you would be doing and thier bodies react so different to ours) i wouldnt do but hey ho only my thoughts xx
Yup one of the racehorses we train gets Guinness every evening in his feed. The iron thing is actually a myth but it is very high in B vitamins and palatable which is why this fella was started on it...he was a bad grubber!
