So it turns out my mare has a really wide back, not meaning she needs a wide fitting saddle but that the gullet needs to have plenty of room all of the way down otherwise it is sitting too close to the spine.

Have looked on the Strada saddle website and they seem to have the right idea. has anyone had any experience of these saddles and can anyone reccomend a saddle type / make that could possibly fit my mare?

Thanks

I really liked the strada saddles but unfortunately non of their trees fitted my wide backed and long high withered horse.. worth trying to see if they have a tree that fits / works for your horses back.

I have a Nick Dolman enigma which is fairly wide gullet.. and is a pretty good fit.. however they are all made on the same tree (unlike the stradas).. apparently this is also true of the Barry Swain Semi Flexes.. they are all built on the same tree. which to my mind is a bit of con.

I previously had a Free n Easy which was terrific and my next saddle will be another FnE .. they have flexible panels and they have excellent gullet width and nice wide panels too.

Neither my horse nor I got on with teh Strada. However, the lady (forgotten her name ) was very helpful and allowed us a decent free trial with no commitment or cost. We're both happy in our WOWs now :)
