In the mornings I muck out, put hay in the hay bars and open the gates on the two shelters so the ponies can go in and out. Sec D eats his hay as fast as he possibly can, then marches into Sec Cs stable. She still has some left because she is eating at a civilised pace, so he turfs her out (which she doesnt really mind because he has an automatic feeder, so she likes to go next door and stare at it to see of she can work out how to make the 'vending machine' work !). He then pulls all her remaining hay out on to the floor. As his piece de resistance, he then poos in her haybar, and finishes the hay that is on the floor

. he obviously does it during the day as well as there are quite a few droppings in there. It makes mucking out a bit easier I suppose, but isnt that a bit odd ?!!?

Yes it would be a bit odd but given that you are talking about a Welshie D, then no...that would be normal behaviour for them! They are the most bizarre creatures...mine does stuff like that too and gets into a habit of it for a few weeks and then completely stops doing whatever it is and starts another habit instead. His current one is to come out of his field stable into his field, do a complete circle in front of the stable and then walk over to his hay to eat!!! I am not joking, he does a complete circle and does not need to as he could just walk over straight to it. Before that he would not eat the hay I put down for him on the ground but insisted on eating from the bales stacked up in my spare stable whilst I was trying to work instead...it is the same hay but he preferred eating it straight from the larder!

There's a pony at the yard who likes to wee on everything before he eats it.

Welshies are a law unto themselves! Mine's like a naughty schoolboy, always looking for a new "jape"! The other morning I popped him in the school with my TB while I mucked out before riding. He was feeling bored so entertained himself by "lunging" my dopey TB round and round in circles. His expression was so "butter wouldn't melt"...
