Strange behaviour

Recently when Biscuit have been cuddling he has put his mouth round my arm just under my elbow. Its like he is going to bite me but he doesn't he just sits there. Does anyone know why he does this ?

The great dane I used to have would do something similar with her dog bed. She's put her mouth on it as if she was going to chew it, only she didn't chew it, she just lay there with it in her mouth and went to sleep.
I just assumed it was comforting to her, kinda like suckling from her mum. She was an older puppy tho, probably about 6 months old before she started doing it.

He is 2 1/2, he is a rescue if that affects anything we have had him for about 4 months now
