This morning my friend arrived at her yard to find the post and rail fencing pulled down and the barbed wire cut behind it. My NF was on the driveway (luckily its more of a track at that point and covered in grass so said pony was happily munching. My boys were still in the paddock. Now I know Star will jump out if theres no electric fencing in front of lower fences but she never makes such an effort to leave a paddock with plenty of grass in it and to cut the barbed wire is a new trick I never knew about!

To top it all she and the boys were very relaxed and happy munching when we were there late last night and when my friend went up after us. But between last night and this morning the woman next door to my yard (which is at the top of the drive) had been up and as she has knocked my fencing down several times this summer and been causing trouble, I am wondering if she had something to do with it. All summer she was making a massive effort to push down and destroy a post and rail fence that was in my paddock and that stopped Star leaping out in to her land (it lined a barbed wire fence so I refused to pull it down when the said woman got the land owner to put the barbed wire up). I was really ill at the time and the damage she caused resulted in my husband and friends going up and ripping it all down. She then started on the second fence lining her precious barbed wire but my hubby blew his top and said if she wanted to have vet bills for the damage the wire was likely to cause my ponies then she was welcome. I admit the lining fence was old and in places was a little battered but it was solid and stopped my little mare escaping (saying that the little **** did jump the two lots of fencing and I had to descreetly get her out via said womans muck heap).

I am so angry as Star was on drive less than a couple of hours by the amount of poo on there and this silly woman left the main gate open onto the motorway service road knowing that my mare was loose anyway. She would have seen her on the track when she got to her fields but didn't even notify my sister who was on my yard doing her two mares and apparently she has no issue with my sister (even though my sisters horse box was smashed up two days after the womans husband said something about it would probably get smashed up if left on the drive (doube width at the top for parking). My sister wouldn't have seen Star as our place is right on the main gate and Star was just down from the womans which is on a bend.

This probably makes absolutely no sense but basically how can a 13.1hh pony pull a whole section of post and rail down and cut down barbed wire to escape?? Especially as she is well known for leaping anything in sight to get to grass?

I think you ought to notify the police and keep a log of incidents , also ask if a crime reduction/ccrime prevention officer could come out to advise you on security. most police forces have crime prevention departments and specially trained staff (my dad used to run a dept in cumbria police force) but tbh you need to do something pretty fast b4 sumthing serious happens.

defo get in contact with the police, even if they cant do anything about it this time, at least the complaint will be logged and you can use it to your advantage if there is a next time. If you can claim for the fence on your insurance then you wiould probably have to notify the police to get a claim code for it.

Sounds very suspcious to me as well. These people seem to have a history of destroyng things that don't please. i would log it with the police.
