Strange horse! (again!)

She's had 2 hours out in the field this morning; I brought her in because it was starting to rain. She's spent the last half hour munching hay and exploring her new Likit quite happily in her box, even though the rain stopped and she had the run of the yard if she wanted it. Now it has started to hail very heavily, so she has taken herself out into the middle of the yard and is getting soaked!

I never know what to do with Gem when it rains! She usually stands happily munching and then is by the gate when the rain stops?! crazy girl!

Your mare sounds absolutely priceless! I can imagine her lying in her box in the morning, all snuggled up, thinking "mmmm now what shall I do to confuse/upset/amuse/confound her today??"

I honestly think Ellie does do this. Her habits change daily; some days she will spook at tractors, others she will not; this morning she barely snorted at the digger parked behind our stables. Some she will stay in the field, others she will gallop around yelling her head off. Some days she loves her Likit, other days she is scared of it!

It wouldnt pay to be the same as everyone else I guess!

My mare is quite happy to come in at lunchtime most days - either sees people coming and stands at the gate or starts to make her way over...on the worst day of the year (blowing a gale and hail and rain) she was at the farthest point of her field grazing!!! We were thinking ooohh she'll want to come in early today...but of course we forgot she is a totally contrary mare and always does the opposite of what we expect!!!!

Ha ha! She sounds absolutely lovely, a real character. She lucky to have a 'mum' who makes allowances for her changes of mind ( loved the bit about the Likits!!), she is a girl after all!!
