strange horse houdini... how do i stop it?

ahh help! i can't stop my horse from escaping!

as soon as i tie up my horse, i turn around and poof - hes out of his headcollar! the headcollar is fitted properly but everytime he gets out of it!

how do i stop this? its making plaiting up a nightmare

we had one like that.he used to put his ear under the lead rope and rub the lot off,bridle and/or headcoller.
funny thing was he never went anywhere cos he thought he was still tied up!!!

I would recommend securing his headcollar to his head with 8 inch coach bolts. My horse has his fly mask stapled to his head and as a precaution I have added screws here and there - a bit permanent, but it does work.

we have one just like it at the yard.His trick is to wait patiently until he has his bridle on and then escape the bridle and headcollar and leadrope while you go to get your hat.He is then usually found as near to the haybarn as he can get.
