Inspired by the apple thread, I was wondering what strange things your horse has eaten...or likes to eat
As stated earlier my horse likes orange fanta......and the bottle it comes in....

Leo (my friends pony) drinks redbull.....straight out the can
Danny liked Ham sandwiches....including the ham!

my first pony (who i still have

) loves sherbert, oranges, and his favorite thing is ice lollies!

i once rode a horse who was obbsessed by bacon sandwichs!

Well, apart from my horse that only likes Pink Lady... my other horse really really enjoys a nice cup of tea and a choc digestive in the mornings...
Now how do I know these things ... I need to get out more as my son puts it!!!!

Jack has a thing for marshmallow mushrooms.. the ones you get in pic n mixes

He also adores cola but hes banned from that ;p

A gelding i had used to love the sour cola bottles (again pic n mix stuff) and the faces he pulled were great; had a mare who loved oranges.. and my first gelding would kill for garlic bread with cheese on. He always had his own portion on our sunday pub rides

The old Appy used to love ginger beer, half coated digestives and cheese and onion crisps. The current Appy likes the bread from hot dogs and appears to like gin! (well if I have a gin on a pub ride she knocks my hand with the drink in and then licks my hand

)

My horse lives by the see food and eat it rule
tongue.gif
. When he was at the riding school he escaped out of his stall, down to the office and ate a load of easter eggs, foil and all

.
He once had a banana, usually he just takes the whole lot, skin and all. Which he did this time but he managed to suck out the banana and threw the skin back at me.
I always teach him to share you see

.

pot noodles, the pink shrimp sweets (works well 4 me as I hate them!) tea, all crisps, pears, mangos, apples obviously, zips (obssessed with trying to open them)

my friends pony ate a ham sandwich once!

We used to graze both our minis in the back garden at the farm (garden was an acre or so) & when we had barbecues in there (the little woodburner stove shaped BBQs, round, iron & quite cheap)

My mum used to make homemade beefburgers & he would spy them cooking, stand & watch until the right moment came & the burger was nicely cooked, run up & snatch a burger off of the BBQ. Stamp on it gently so it split open & cooled down & then demolish the lot.

I don't know how he managed it without burning himself but he adored them & God help his fellow mini if he tried to steal Nutmeg's spoils!

My old 14.2hh pony loved pot noodle , He used to take the cup in his mouth and suck out the juice , also did the same with coke, used to take it in his mouth and chuck it up and down until it was gone .

I also knew a show pony who loved vodka and coke
crazy.gif
Would not take the coke if there was no vodka in it .

We give our ponies a bit of Guinness in their Christmas dinner, they love it! I also gave a pony star dust once(that stuff that crackles in your mouth) she didn't quite know what to make of it

my horse will eat just about anything, orange fanta from the bottle, sausage butties with brown sauce on, oranges, chocolate, guiness, loves having an ice cream with all the toppings when we go the beach and then steals my lolly ice. all kind of cereal, chips, fish litterally anything lol

Erm .... do none of you fear colic?!!
We got a pony from a rescue who we were told loved coke and pickled onion monster munch.
Oh yes, and that he was inclined to get colic.
Er ............
I did have a pony who used to drink coke from the bottle. I also know someone who ended up with a big bill for colic surgery because someone gave her horse a salmon sandwich.
I also have a shetland who dines on human flesh, and a cob who eats lead ropes. Whole if given the opportunity.

I've had a pony who LOVED a bacon butty and would steal your mug and drink your tea - he loved it when the fencing was going up as I'd get out there with a tray of mugs for the workmen and he'd sidle round checking all the mugs out until they were cool enough for him to drink.

I used to jump someone's mare who insisted on a rum and black after every round. I used to get sent to shows with drinks money for her but I was only 13 so I'd have to get someone to go into the beer tent to buy her a drink. She was very dainty with it. To follow she liked a cigarette, which she used to chew up and roll round her mouth in the most revolting manner.

Xtra strong mints make my Section A's eyes water.

My abused welshy is very wary of sweets of any type - he's convinced they're a bribe before you do something really nasty.

On a slightly different note, my young AA mare had never met carrots and on being presented with her first one was convinced she had to suck it. She stood there, blissed out, sucking on the carrot. She soon learnt how to deal with them effectively though. Then we introduced her to parsnips but they were fairly tough old things and she didn't have the jaw strength to bite into them. She's developed it now.

2 of mine go blackberry picking

i thought they both had some terrible disease when i spotted their purple tongues

but then i caught them gently hoovering the berries off the bushes in the fields lol

Ronnie doesn't really like unusual food - acts like he's starved so I give him some and then he chews it for a while then spits it out.

However, his appetitie for leadropes and haynets is insatiable. He'll eat haynets (metal rings and all) in one night. He now has to have a hay ball which he doesn't eat. Thorowgood long life leadropes are the only ones that will survive daily Ronnie attacks for more than a week. Strange thing is, I've not seen the metal hay net rings come out the other end, if you know what I mean...

I have visions of him being X-rayed one day and there being dozens of little metal rings in his tummy
shocked.gif

a used Condom.....

and no, i made NO attempted whatsoever to try and remove it from his mouth...

he's still alive!!!

hmm.. Betty likes, Malt loaf.. blueberry muffins, salt n vinegar crisps, hot chocolate, oh and has been known to snaffle a salmon and cucumber sarnie.. hmm... strange horsey!

Have had multiple horses that would kill for Guiness (preferably with bran), thistels, blackberries, corn-on-the-cob(the whole thing), watermelon, oranges, bread, bananas.
And a horse who though you were trying to poision him if you offered him a apple....go figure...
Sorry about the spelling.
