Oooo my first post...

First horse I had (bought in 1978!) was called Rickenbacher by the farmer I bought him from. This was at the time when Wrangler jeans had an ad campaign with a catch phrase 'Good grief Rickenbacher'. I had every intention of changing this awful name but it stuck so he was Rick with Rickenbacher as a show name (!) for the next 20 years until he died at age of 24. It so suited him too. Current one is called Will - much more mainstream!

I live near a minature shetland pony stud and last year they had a colt foal who was dun with the most amazing blond mane and they called him Boris after the London Mayor. Made me smile!

I also used to work at a RS where they had a horse called Nutmeg. However, she was completely mental and everyone called her Nutter, which unfortunately stuck. Except with me, I always called her Meg, because I loved her!

Had a gelding once called 'Rondeveau' as in 'we meet again' - quite apt really as he was very sharp

- great fun though lol

Also had a grey gelding called Captain - mainly cause he used to grow a tasch in the winter which looked very funny when he got sugar beet stuck to it!

I broke in a pony called Yvonne once. My robbie was called Norman when I got him, he was only 10 months old, I changed it cos my dad kept calling him Stormin Norm!

Frank! Rinaldo (big donkey cob with massive ears) my RI calls a lot of hers after designer brands and famous people...Donatella, Del Boy and Rodney etc.

Place down the road has Ferrero and Rocher. Trekking place in Co Clare I went to when I was a kid, I was on a fat stumpy shettie called Shergar and my Mum was on a really ugly mare called Saucepan....
