Following recent all clear confirmations from various yards in the Wirral area, there has now been another confirmed case in Frankby. Luckily the owner of the horse is telling people her horse has strangles (unlike last time when it was all hush hush) and although the confirmation swab only came through today it seems an awful lot of people have already been made aware. Fingers crossed the horse is ok.

The case is at the same Frankby yard as the previous case, those in the area will know where I mean.

So no doubt all shows/events in Wirral will be called off again

Ooh no!!
I thought it was too good to be true. Not sure if they will cancel events again for just one horse though.
Will I ever get round to my first dressage comp this year?!

Thats what I was thinking, Ive been practicing for 3 months now and was all set to go to WRC for P10 & P12 a week on saturday.

I really hope they dont cancel it. It is only one horse at the moment but if the yard in question thought they were clear, and are obviously not clear then it may have spread a little further. Lets just hope is hasnt.

It is only one horse on one yard as far as we are aware atm so hopefully she should be ok. Who is your trainer if you dont mind me asking?

She could quite possible have been there cosidering it is one of the largest liveries/riding school and feed merchants on the wirral.

Fingers crossed she hasnt though

Ah no not again! At least they're being open about it.
Sam - Im pretty certain she will be able to teach you as she taught me on Sunday (though I am at the Parkgate yard you are talking about) and aslong as she hasnt been incontact with said horse. If the case was that bad then they would have to close the whole yard but they havnt and the yard that originally had it in Ledsham didnt close their yard and they are a feed merchant, they didnt let any horses off their yard. They will be most likely not allow horses on and off the yard to prevent the spread. Our YO wont allow other horses on our yard at the moment so PC clinics have had to be cancelled but we just cant risk it.

I can assure you the yard in question does not take any measures to keep in under control. My yard is next door and although the owner of the horse is telling everyone, the yard deny it. They have told everyone they are clear!!

They still hack out, which means our yard is now not allowed to as it is very likely we will come into contact with one of their horses on route. They are open yo the public and are a feed merchants.

Its most likey because that is their business and would lose alot of money if they had to close even for a short while but they should take into consideration other people and horses as we really dont want this to spread. I thought we had it under control but obviously not quite. We're all just going to have to be careful
