Hi guys,

I am moving yards soon the new yard have requested pre movement strangles blood tests. I am trying to get organised . I would ideally like to move in Saturday but the vet can only come Tuesday is 2 days an unrealistic turn around time ? I can only move on a weekend when my relative is off to drive the horse box. But the test need to be done as close as possible to leave date .

Advice please guys

I think that would be fine. All horses moving to our yard have to have a blood test and the results usually come back within 48 hours and three days at the longest. If you let the vet know your timescale I'm sure they'll reassure you.

Last time I did it they were back within 24 hours, but they were done by the AHT who have since shut so I'm not sure of the timelines these days.

I think you'll be fine to plan for the weekend

48 hours should be ok. Not sure where you are but there are some places that do more reliable/consistent tests than others. We had to re do ours due to inconclusive result at the first place, and apparently they often say that so aren’t considered very reliable. If you’re based in the SE I can PM you which one to avoid.
