Trying to scout on web to find out if my horses are safe or whether it will travel airbourne that far ? can't find any info to help, no-one else comes on or off my yard as I am on my own.

Thanks.

Edited to say : have just found a very helpful site which states it is NOT airbourne, I always thought it was, suppose that's my own question answered :-)

Its not airbourne but I would avoid hacking out anywhere where people on the infected yard would as its passed on by contact (so if horse has grabbed a bite to eat, snotted somewhere with it). If the yard with it are quarantining then the risk to your horses, so long as no one works/keeps horses at both yards is quite low though so dont worry!

Its not an airbourne virus, its transmitted about as far as a horse can sneeze! The danger is in transmission of the snot, so as long as nobody is going between your yard and theirs I wouldnt be too concerned. Horrible though it is, its rarely very dangerous, just a pain in the ass!

Thanks for the info, I did edit to say I found a site which said it's not airbourne, thank goodness, I always thought it was, hopefully then i'm fine.

Chellebean - i'm in Essex and apparently its in quite a few places in/around essex at the moment.

There is a suspected case getting tested a couple of miles from me. We have ours all booked in vaccinations on Wedensday, hope its not too late.
