Strangles - Information needed Please

Hi

I'm currently writing an assignment on Strangles and the affects of the bacteria involved but I'm struggling to find any information to help with part of the question.

I need to explain how the horses immune system responds to the bacteria and how they fight it off?

Can anyone shed any light on this or point me in the direction of a website that may help?

Do you have a tame vet you can quiz? I know my horses responded to infection with a temperature; later the pus developed, but I don't know the particulars behind that.
