Just wondering if anyone has heard about the strangles outbreak near inverness somewhere? My YO asked me to post this as she has to be careful where she competes...

Quote from our local equine vets at Kessock, near Inverness:

"Strangles in Inverness-shire and Ross-shire

We have had several cases of strangles in our area. If you are at all worried, please do call us for some free advice. For some impartial information please check out the Intervet page".

Mine are staying home!

Not sure about the Inverness strangles but there's been an out break down in a yard in Cornwall!!! Scary times! 1 horse was destroyed and 2 are receiving treatment!

is it confined to stewarton at the moment?
We're not allowed to leave our yard for two weeks :(

I also heard it was in north ayrshire, i don't think stewarton comes under north ayrshire? but there are at least 2 yards in ayrshire with it as far as i've heard through facebook, that was last week so maybe more - for the time being i'm keeping my herd strictly at home only! (not that i was planning on going anywhere anyway!)

There is def an outbreak of Strangles in the area, 3 yards have been affected! One in particular had failed to notify visiting guests of their outbreak and as a result it is not getting any better!! Beware of taking your own ponies/horses to any riding holiday in Ross-shire, pretty unscrupulous owner at one particular yard!! "It's not notifiable" is her attitude to it all!!
