Just to let everyone know we have a strangles outbreak at my yard, Cullinghood in Berkshire

Yard has been quarantined with no movement in or out.
 
hmm, presuming they have cancelled saturdays event then? Bit too local for my liking (I am in woodcote!) - at least they have the sense to actually inform people tho and are restricting movement. Hope all goes ok and send my regards to Maggie.
 
That's terrible, it's only up the road from me! Hope the horse(s) in question are ok.

Just a thought though....do you run the yard or are you just a livery? If you're a livery I can say now that my YO would be absolutely livid if I'd posted this on a public forum, especially one as big as HHO.....

Yes luckily he is ok at the moment.. but its the horse in the stable next door

And for the person who asked, I am a livery at the yard and as DEFRA etc have to be informed I dont see why local horse owners shouldnt know, as our yard is used by plenty as hacking so that wont be a good idea at the mo

as they have not even mentioned it on their website I feel it is more responsible if they had actually put it ON their website rather than just say the event was cancelled. I still dont understand why in this day and age such a stigma is attached, if they are dealing with it responsibly then it is a plus for them. Why make a secret of it and risk any further infection? Just dont understand.
