I noticed last night a lump on the side of one of my horses faces behind his cheek below his ear (classic strangles photo area) He has lumps similar all over as he reacts badly to fly bites and wears a rug but uncovered area's as this is still get effected.
Bearing in mind the horse in question has been turned away for 2 months at least- in no contact with other horses other than the one its turned out with.
The field has only had my own horses in at least a full year- previous tenant i believe kept sheep and goats there.
There are NO other symptoms at all. He's completely normal in himself, no temperature or discharge from his nose.
He's happy for me to squeeze, prod and poke the lump, as he is any of the others he has.
Would you be worried?
