Anyone done the course here? They aren't doing an OPN which is irritating so wondering what the Novice and Intro courses are like? In the novice - Do they have a trakhener?! And in the intro, is it up to height / complicated etc. or would it be a good first intro?

Thanks

I have only been there once in 2002 for Pony Club area trials. It was really wet so they took the harder jumps out and the people that came 1st and 2nd had not managed to get round a PC Open or even a BE pre-novice all year! My sister came 4th so missed qualifing! Sorry doesn't help and I can't remember what the course was like. Anyway the people who went to the champs one got eliminated and the other came last with a cricket score.

Def not a first intro, despite the description in the schedule. Up to height and technical, even at Intro level. PN course has three water jumps! Haven't walked the Novice, but given that they throw in everything else at Strathallan, there's prob a trakhener.

Good course if you like a challenge at the level you're competing at. I've enjoyed both the Intro and PN courses there, but a few folk I've been there with have the opposite view!

Right then, wont be taking youngster for his first intro there then! And since I was a confidence boosting round for my other horse (so want to move down to 1 or 2 PN's) - guess Ill just have to do the PN HC. Why the hell arent they running an OPN?!

Are you entering Noodlejaffa? Do you know what Scone intro is like? I did the novice there like last month but didnt look at any of the intro.

Toto - he he, sounds pretty amusing! I often wonder why the odd person who only has luck at qualifiers (ie. not consistently) bother going to champs!

A lot of people swear by Scone as a first Intro. It's definitely one of the more inviting Intro courses. Would choose that over Strathallan.

Haven't decided on Strathallan yet. I'm wanting to run at Hendersyde ( 7 miles down the road from me), but it's the weekend after Strathallan and I'm not wanting to push my youngster too far too soon (he's still growing, bless him). So, may well do Auchinleck instead (very, very nice course) as that would give us a couple of weeks break inbetween.

Still scunnered that Gleneagles has been cancelled as that put my plans into dissaray!

We did scone, yeh it is nice, up to height but very inviting fences. I think the biggest problem was the lorry park right at the start so getting out the start box on a baby was sticky. We used it for a first intro for one of ours who was a good boy despite his jockey riding like a bag of spuds!!!! (hope she doesn't read this !!)

Defo not 1st Intro, a good one before moving up to PN. Auchinleck would be my bet for a nice 1st Intro.

Strathallan is a fab event though.
