So... have jumped the queue (sorry other HHO-ers, will get them for ya tomorrow!) and got my photos from Mr FJ!

Spent a lovely day on Saturday at the event- fence juding in the morning/early afternoon and then course walking/blethering in the afternoon. :)

Had the most leisurely start to date with a 3.06pm dressage. This meant Satruday was spent saying "will I do X/Y/Z? Nah... I've got plenty time tomorrow, I'll do it then..." and so mad busy morning was spent cleaning tack, packing car and washing/plaiting Hopalong! :rolleyes: The more time I have, the more I faff! ;)

Warmed up really nicely but didn't quite manage to keep it together in the test- usual story, lack of consistent outline etc. Not quite as much fighting as before and was hopeful it would be a low 40s, even high 30s. Obviously didn't look all that great and got 43. However, not bottom at least?! (not far from it though!)

Some photo evidence of our usual rubbish dressage!

Then a big gap until SJ. However it worked out well as gave me time to hide Hopalong in the trailer to avoid a heavy rain shower and me a chance to go to score tent and blether, then walk the SJ course when it changed over.

Warmed up, had a good blether with Flying Coo and then went in. Had a rubbish stride to the first;

Then got into a much better rythym. Found some really nice strides to the fences and didn't feel like I was flapping or panicking. Got a good shot to no.4 which was falling regularly;
Strathallen16.jpg

And then a nice 5 strides to the spread at no.5, so really pleased with that. Really twisty turning through the next few, then over the double at no.8;

Then really horrid dog leg to the last fence. I think I got too excited and just rushed on to it, it felt like we'd got a good shot to it, prompting a "whoo hoo" mid air, only to then hear a clatter and have to cringe and realise that it wasn't clear after all! :o Grrr numpty rider! :mad:

So our recent bout of 4-fault-itis continues thanks to me. :( Maybe next time...!

Quick change over for XC and then we were off. First three fences (rolltops and a chair) were all fine, she was fab over the palisade to drop at 4ab and popped over the wee log at 5 fine. Had a major attack of the spooks towards 6ab (step up to palisade) as you approached downhill and had a scary river running nearby! :rolleyes:

Popped up fine though, spooked at novice log on way past to the wall at 7 and then splashed through the river quite happily at 8. No.9 was a decent sized open corner on quite a tight turn out of the river, not a huge amount of time to see it and set up. Was a little too defensive on approach to it and I'm not sure we could have got much closer?! :o

So not very pretty or stylish- but over! (the rider a few horses before me fell off at it and my pal who went after me did the same!) She's very clever and careful with the front end, just as well. Got a real ping over it.

Through the 2nd water splash at 10, then more spooking at barrels at 11, but lots of leg and a growl and we were off. Big jump over the steeplechase at 12, which despite my attempts to "use the force" and shrink it on Saturday when course walking (I'm 5'6" if it helps gauge size!);

Jumped lovely! ;)

Then up hill and sharp turn to do another step to palisade 13ab. Zoomed on to kennel/house jump at 14 and downhill to main water fence at 15ab.

A was a hanging log with flowers and B was a drop into the water. Lots of leg and vocal encouragement and she popped in much better than I expected. :) So happy with her jumping in so nicely I almost forgot about the skinny brush at 16, but just remembered in time! Lots of whoops and good girls there and according to my Mum, some young girls said to each other "I think she's having fun" after we went through! :D

Over the box fence at 17 and log pile thing at 18 fine, took a good look at the last but flew over;

Then galloped home to finish... inside the time! :D
Strathallen31.jpg

So our first clear inside the time at PN, so so happy with her. :)

Ended up 11th, that pole cost us a frilly! But still chuffed all the same and maybe one day we'll get that stressage sorted...!

I love the pics, especially the second part of the double and galloping home! If a pole cost you a rosie and you thought your dressage was awful then your dressage can't have been that bad or you would have been miles out! :P

angelish- thank you, yes, darn pole! So annoyed with myself about it, but at least it didn't cost us a higher placing!

dixie- thank you, we do both love the XC. :D

saz- yes, it was a big 'un, but felt good! Wheeeeeee! :D

mgould- we were about 4 or 5 from the bottom out of 25 starters, so the dressage definitely wasn't great! ;) SJ and XC time faults were influential-ish, so we were able to crawl up the board in the end. Didn't think I'd get within sniffing distance of top 10 though, so pleased all the same. :)

Brilliant! :D
I agree an opening corner would be a bit scary so well done!
Great report and pics and brilliant that you were inside the time - she is looking so well!! Is she 18 or 19 - amazing! Real credit to you :)

Go team hopalong -

I think Ive worked out why that pole fell on 9.... I think Bopper told heidi the double was the last (it was last for him) when he was trying to chat her up ;)

applestroodle- it will be you and Magic zooming round the PN by this time next year! :D

JenB- ta. :) I wouldn't have said SJ any bigger than Eglinton. I did ride it much better though and we even got the correct no. of strides through the double! ;) Scone PN is next in 2 weeks time, then Drumclog PN the week after and Turnberry BE90RF 2 weeks after that. Then all done unless I can afford a last PN jolly to Hutton. It's a bit of a trek though. :(

DHB- thank you! :) Yes, open corner very scary, but rode it much more positive and attacking yesterday in training and it jumped so much better. (must remember that!) She is a '91 foal, so will be 19 this year! :eek: She had a quiet few years aged 12-15, so maybe that helped?

Ems- ha ha, poor Bopper can't take the blame, proper rider numptiness there! :o Was lovely to see you guys and well done again. Will get photos to you tonight hopefully. :)

pepperandoran- thanks. :) She is indeed a dude. :D Yup, Scone next, can't wait. :)

Fab, Well done. :D Such a shame about the pole down though, 11th is the most annoying placing you can get, but I can definately feel like a top 10th placing is looming pretty soon.

Report & Pics are fab as usual, well done Mr FJ, :)

Well done:) You've well & truely cracked this BE100 malarky & Hopalong is being wonderfully consistent.

Super report as ever with the aid of Mr FJ pics. Might see you at Scone but fear we will be on different days.

Big pat to the pone & I am off up the page to see how the XC schooling went!!:D

A1 Report as usual.
Have to say loving the photo of "use the force" and shrink the hedge!! Didn't work though!:(
Didn't realise H was 19!!! Would never have guessed with how she pings round.Even more impressive.
Good Luck for Scone and will see you at Drumclog as entered today as think one weekend of going to the dark side will be too much for us!!!:)
(champagne in the cooler for then!!??)lol

DHB- ha ha, yes! It does say 1992 on her BE record (passport says unknown, helpful!) as when I first got her I had to make a guesstimate! :o I only got in contact with her long term previous owner at the end of last year to find out her full history and that she was actually a 1991 foal, not 1992! Wasn't deliberate jiggery-pokery with the numbers, honest! :o

SW66- yes, 11th is a frustrating place, especially when I've only myself to blame for the pole! :mad: Course was not suited to Mr FJ's usual style of get-as-many-photos-as-you-can as all the decent looking fences were in remote locations so I had to pick one that I wanted! He sprinted up a massive hill from the corner to manage to get those pics over the last fence/finish, I hadn't thought/expected he would, he rocks! :D

jumptoit- thanks! :) Didn't think we'd manage to get inside for another few runs yet and there were plenty with time pens, so it wasn't wheeled "loose"!

Joss- I will not consider PN cracked until we get a DC! Managed clear SJ at the first but silly run out XC, then have been clear XC the next 3 but silly 4 fault-itis getting in the way of DCs! :mad: Maybe next time...! ;) Will try pop up to Scone on Sunday to watch/have a blether and do some cheerleading. :)

AandK- I don't think she knows her age! I won't tell her...! ;)

S_J- thank you. Lower leg not quite playing ball in these pics like it was at Eglinton, really need to work on attacking the fences more as when I am too defensive, I hold for a short stride and we get in deep and get a "upwards" jump rather than a nice, smooth one. Got much nicer jumps on the training day yesterday when I was more positive/attacking and it all felt much better. Must remember this in comp mode...! :o

Flying Coo- I did my best to shrink it, but it wasn't happening, sorry! We all loved it anyway though! ;) She's not bad for an old gal, eh?! :) Makes me sad though as I think how much she could (maybe!) have done if we'd started 10 years ago...! :( Look forward to seeing you at Drumclog. Will we both need a bottle to take with us and swap?! ;) :D

Aw lovely report as always. You two look such a lovely partnership. Was good to get a blether with you at the end!

I know what you mean about wishing you'd had the chance to start earlier with Hopalong - my boy is 17 this year and I sooo wish I could buy a few more years!

I think I saw Mr FJ at the corner (I think?) - he exhibited a magnificent extended trot to change positions when he realised I was doing the black flag lol!!

stilton- yes, I'm not sure horse's legs are supposed to take off for big fences at that angle?! She must have been a cat in a previous life, she is so agile and quick with her feet! I have a few photos where it's baffling how she jumped something clear from where the take off was. :o Poor pony, we get it right much more often nowadays, but I do appreciate her help when needed! :o

muffinthemule- lovely to see you too. :) Hope you are on speaking terms with him again now? ;) If you find the clock rewinder (or even a "pause" button) for horse's age, please let me know?! Ha ha, like the description of Mr FJ's "extended trot" (and the fact that you were able to notice- I often ride past him so in the zone I don't realise! :o ), it may well have been him as you were only a couple ahead of me, so he was lurking there waiting for us and there weren't other togs there. He's hoping to get the photos sorted tonight, so will email on when they are. He got your SJ too I think. :)

haha love to see that your still playing the what if... game ;)

looks a little drier than Eglinton im sure Mr FJ enjoyed that :p but still sounds like a few hills were involved - think he needs to invest in a scooter so he can snap you the whole way round :D

looks like your having a blast and now your established at 100 will it be a 100+/ Novice before the end of the year?

kez- thank you. :) She is indeed very pingy and this is all the more reason to be so annoyed with myself for the recent 4 faults in the SJ!

langside- ha ha, he'd quite like a quad. ;) And the "what if" game is a very important part of post-event analysis! :p We had some rain but not as bad as Eglinton. :) I wouldn't say we're established at PN yet, I'm still looking for that DC! Although it's not as scary as I thought it would be. :o

Next is Scone PN, then Drumclog PN and then Turnberry BE90RF. I dithered about doing the BE100 there instead as I don't really want to drop back down to intro, but would love the chance to go to Badders, so need to try. Not that we'll have a hope as our dressage aint good enough, but got to be in it...?! If finances allow, I might try and see about going to Hutton(3) for a last PN run as don't want to finish on an intro. Will need to see nearer the time and if there's anyone wanting to lift share to reduce costs. Then it's a winter of dressage and SJ to get us in shape for next season!

Lovely pics and great report at always.

Dressage has become our nemesis too - we rose from 28th (Section of 36) after dressage to 11th on Sunday with a double clear which I was delighted with. Given the choice I'd much rather good jumping rounds than good dressage... Ideally both but if could only have one would take the jumping every time!

MB- that's what I've always said. For all I whinge about the stressage and the pokey nose, she more than makes up for it by being so much fun to jump. I'd much rather the current status quo of rubbish dressage, but a silly rail or numpty rider error being the big problems jumping than having a fabulous DR score in the 20s but always worrying we'd have too many rails down SJ to go XC or getting E all the time XC etc. We're doing it for fun and the bit we find fun is the jumping! :D
