It's the same as Nedz Bedz Advance - which is a very popular bedding, but too expensive.

I know of someone on another forum who uses straw pellets and rates them highly.

I want to try them this winter to see if there is a difference with wood pellets.

Straw pellets are supposed to last even longer than wood pellets - I hope it's true.....

I am very tempted to try it on my daughter's very mucky mare! Any idea on how many bags are on a pallet. How much does a bag cost? Would it freeze in winter like wood pellets do?

Can't help with the bag/pallet question as I get them in bulk bags. I think the bagged price is comparable with wood pellets, but if you only order a small amount the courier costs will be high, so I would advise biting the bullet and getting a goodish load to try. Re the freezing, my wood pellets didn't freeze, but I am convinced that the straw pellets stay much drier anyway so won't hold the moisture like wood.

Ive been selling the straw pellets here in North America for about 5-6 years now. I worked for a company that produced them in the States and for the last 3+ years Ive had my own product called EcoStraw that Ive been selling

This page gives you some information on them and what you do and dont do with them, and what they look like visually

Its a really great product overall. Probably the biggest complaint about them was esthetically. They are not as "pretty" and light and fluffy as shavings are and because of the high heat they are exposed to, they arent as "golden" as straw is - more of a mocha colour

But absorption wise they are absolutely terrific and some of my clients mix shavings with them to try and get the best of both worlds and to make their shavings as efficient as possible

Also try and find a source for miscanthus or switchgrass pellets or Coir in the UK. Fabulous products for bedding overall

Good luck!

Hey Britestar, where can I get hold of a smallish amount to try for my cats?
don't want to order in horse-size quantities just yet! thanks

Oh - and BTW- we tried it with our cats and hated it.

There was more debris tracked out of their litter boxes with it than with almost any other product out there

One client ground them up in a coffee grinder for their hamsters and guinea pigs and absolutely loved it, but the cat experiment was a failure for us anyhow ...

oooooh ive just laid my new bed with the trial order of wood pellets now i need to look into these straw pellets haha. can i mix them in with the wood pellets if i like them better?
