Having fully clipped my young horse, he appears to have now got some sort if scabby rash wherever his clipped buts have been exposed to his straw bed, eg his neck. Has anyone else experienced this? Debating putting him in shavings but wondering if I'm jumping the gun, because it is all scabby though I can't see antihistamines helping.

Mine had this on the underside of his stomach. It went away in a few days and never returned. He varies from being on shavings in the spring/summer to straw in the autumn/winter.

It was the only coincidence that I found. These were raised lumps, I think I just covered them with Sudocrem or Aloe Vera. They never came back at any other time.

My horse has had this after being clipped - he comes up in hives for a week or two after sleeping/lying down in his straw bed. I give him antihistamines when they are particularly bad but I have to say, his have never been scabby - could your boy be rubbing/scratching them?
