My horse has been away for three months on scooling livery and she is due to come home in the next two weeks. Unfortunately she is always a stress head and i think she will be even worse as she will be travelling for perhaps 1.5 hrs and arriving at a new yard (not the same yard she was at before). The yard Owner has said it is up to me what i do when she arrives as she will be in a seperate paddock (she has to be wormed)- what would you do bearing in mind she is a big strong girl and likely to be very unsettled - stable or paddock on arrival??:)
Chocs all round :)

She might surprise you.... Mine used to be a stress head but travelling seems to relax her these days! When I brought her to my new yard last year I put her into a stable looking out onto the yard, with a full haynet, for about an hour and then once she'd settled I put her out in the field and she was fine, didn't career around or anything.

She's been on holiday to my trainer's twice and to another friend's yard within the last year and I have done the same every time. She's still inclined to be tense until she works out what's going on but she is getting better and better as she grows up.

If you can try to keep calm that should help your girl too. Good luck :)
