Ive just been informed that a horse I own that is on Lease has a stress fracture to his near fore. The fracture is at the top luckly where there is most muscle cover. the fracture was due to being kicked in the field.
At present he is sound and on box rest (luckly he is a saint in the stable). He has had one xray to confirm the fracture and the vet is due out in 2-3 weeks time to re xray.
The vet has told his rider that he does not think this will effect his work in the future.
Has any one any experience with fractures like this and their recovery? eg time, success...
There has been no mention of needing plaiting etc.
My concern is that the horse will be able to continue being competitively ridden to the level he is now once recovered as this horse will not suit being a field pony.
thanks in advance
