STRESS!! why does nobody want my pony??!!

After much dithering over what to do with my life I have decided to go and work abroad for about a year or so, so need to find someone for ponykins. I have a sharer already who pays my livery bill (£150pm) in return for riding twice a week (i know I got lucky!!). She loves him to bits and I'd feel mean taking him away from her although she can't commit to taking him on fully, plus he went off on loan before and came back in a state so im wary of that happening again. Therefore I'm looking for someone to take over from me, and keep him where he is. I've advertised him on horsequest plus all the free sites but I've not even had an enquiry!! Now when i have advertised him for full loan and for a sharer in the past i had tons of replies. I just don't understand why people aren't interested in the arrangement I am suggesting - they get to have the pony all to themselves really (can be ridden twice in a day if they want to ride on the weekend as well as sharer), the sharer is away for the whole summer, plus they are getting the majority of the cost paid for them and a really good pony as well!! I just don't understand it, and I'm starting to really worry I won't find anyone

Is it the dun gelding on Horsequest? If so, I think the ad needs rewriting as it is very confusing about the details of the loan situation and it does make you sound a little like a neurotic owner!

And I would definitely start the ad by actually describing the pony and what he does, rather than leaving it to the end!
 
hahaha yeah it is...hm you are right actually think i may send them an email! I'm not actually neurotic in the slightest believe it or not!! Just spent years of hard work on him and while I am happy for my novice sharer to come and pootle around on him once or twice a week I wouldn't want that for everyday. plus he's probably get bored and get silly

I guess it's just a hard situation to explain!! Will try and create a shorter ad with less waffle!!!!haha!
 
No one seems to be looking for anything at the mo. We have a lovely sec a for sale he's been advertised since before xmas and we've only had one phone call and that was from word of mouth not the ad. I think the weather has put lots of people off buying or even enquireing. Hopefuly the market will pick up soon i need the pony gone.

Hmm, I haven't read the ad but it sounds like the sharer is still going to be 'sharing' as well - is that right?

To be honest it sounds like a complicated situation when i bet tehre are others up for loan where this isn't the case and therefore they are more likely to be succesful in loaning.

Personally I find it frustrating when looking at loan ads where teh owner stipulates the horse MUST stay at current yard or you MUST do this you MUST do that etc etc. If I want a horse on loan I would want to keep it at my own stables (as we have our own land etc). In my opinion if you want to loan a horse out as it's not convenient for you to look after / ride it or for whatever reason you either loan it out fully (either keep at present yard, fair enough or be open to others who may want to keep it at theirs) or you sell it!

Making the agreement sounds complicated will not help and I'm afraid I would say to the sharer that they either have the option to take him on as a loan fully or you are going to have to loan him to someone else.
 
yeah maybe im just being too nice to the sharer!!!? The reason for staying at the current yard is that he is happy there and i have people there i trust to keep an eye on him as i will be out of the country so have no way of checking he's ok. I guess I'm just fussy about him not moving because of a bad experience before. Yes the sharer would like to continue having him but she hardly does anything with him just pays quite a bit of money which is good for me

It sounds like a very confusing situation and tbh if I was looking for a pony on full loan, that's what I'd expect - a pony, on full loan, just for me! Maybe change it to part loan and get the current sharer to be the other half of the loan agreement?
 
TBH if it were me i would look for another sharer and take the rest of the cost on yourself, at the end of the day he is your responsibility and if you aren't prepared to allow him to move yards or go on full loan this would be your best and lest confusing option.
 
If I was taking a horse on loan, I would want to know what sort of period I was looking for. The may be longer or shorter would bother me as I could make plans for the summer only to find the owner got bored after 3 months, came home and wanted her horse back. I think it would be fairer to stipulate a minimum loan period of 6 months and if you decided to come back early to let the loan run to the end of that time.

but when i advertised him i found a lot of people charging more!!and she could actually ride more than twice a week just chooses not to for some reason!! I am lucky, but then again when you look at overall costs she is paying less than half as my diy livery is £150pm plus all the rest of the costs plus £2 a day t/o and his insurance etc etc!!!
 
How about...

14.2 dun Connemara X gelding for full loan, 18 years young.
Genuine fun allrounder for loan for 12 months, possibly longer. Safe but lively hack, excellent to shoe/catch/load etc. Schools well and many wins affiliated/unaffiliated SJ/eventing. Needs confident competent rider as I'd like him to continue competing. To stay in or around Reading/Ascot area. Existing sharer is keen to continue her involvement which is limited in return for a generous financial contribution, but it will be the choice of the loanee if this is to continue or not. Email me for more info/photos

Does that sound better? Trying to keep my options open and make a bit more sense
