Stressed! (Bit of a rant, sorry!)

Yes I agree, my foul harrassed stressy mood lifts the second my horses raise their heads and say hello. They are always pleased to see me and I am them. I don't begrudge my lack of sleep and chasing my tail all day on my life as it is exactly what I want
laugh.gif
and its what I love doing

I am just very jealous of these people who leave work at 4.30/5/5.30/6 - I wish! Not only do I never leave at a reasonable time, I get to work half an hour early to keep my sanity, and live an hours commute from the office! No time for a horse, otherwise I wouldn't actually get any sleep!

My day :-

Alarm goes 5.30
Up at 6
Yard 6.45
Feed, muck out, sweep up, turn out, change for work
7.45 - 5 work (usually no lunch or coffee break, on my feet all day....physical and stressful job as I work in operating theatre) 5.20 yard (if I finish on time)
Feed, haynets, change rug, brush etc. and give boy a cwtch
7-7.30 home exhausted
Have usual arguments over laziness of my teenage kids because house is a mess when I get home
Cook tea at some point
Visit my dependant mother at some point
9.30-10 bed usually after falling asleep first on sofa

I used to work full time, but now 3 days because its all too much and wanted to spend more time with my jeej

go home , ride , stable horses for night
9.30ish prepare dinner
10pm eat dinner & watch telly for an hour
11pm tidy kitchen , put washing machine on etc then have a bath
12pm go to bed

next day if i'm unlucky & working 80 miles away i'll be up at crack of dawn

yes i am VERY busy , but i'm generally not stressed & i certainly don't complain about my life/schedule , i chose this lifestyle , ie, a good career & horses as my hobby
laugh.gif

I keep that in the back of my mind when I'm at work, or when I want to buy something and can't afford it - I work to pay for my horse and I can't afford x because I am paying for my horse. Makes it all worthwhile. And no matter how stressed I get at work/home, it all melts away as soon as I see my neddy in the field
laugh.gif
. She used to be hard to catch and yesterday she cantered across the field to the gate just because I shouted her name out of the car window, made my whole day worth it, I nearly cried! So now I'm moany and sad to go with it

grin.gif

i cant moan dont work at mo but i did 4 4 yearsrather than work i have 2 kids and nephew to run after school runs and house work , dog to walk and brother to sort out thats before Hubby comes home and i run aftre him add with 10 weeks pregnant and im tired by 7

My wonderful OH has just txt me to say if I want to ride tonight he will see to kids and cook tea.......so by 6.30pm I will be saddled up and heading off for a lovely evening hack. Which is what makes my one-eyed early morning mucking-out worthwhile
grin.gif

PS...I may have to 'be nice' to him again
blush.gif

I am going to join in too
6am get up
6.30 yard
7.30 work till 5.30
5.45 yard till 7.30-8pm

My hubbys life patch is handgliding, so I have a lot of "credit" already for the long Winter months ahead of me, just by sending him merrily on his way for weekends of camping and flying competitions, buying him beer, giving him the remote control, and warming his side of the bed up he WILL help me out during the Winter hahaha

I get the impression people think I don't enjoy my lifestyle. Please don't have that impression, I don't complain often, sometimes I just need to let off a bit of steam. I know I chose this lifestyle and I really really wouldn't change it for the world, I just hate when people have it quite easy (I'm certainly not saying everyone without a horse has it easy) and everyone goes on about how they must be very busy and stressed. Sometimes I'm knackered, and IMO I have reason to be knackered (as does everyone else here) and it would be nice sometimes for people just to recognise that I work hard too, and I do a lot more with my time than them, can I have some sympathy off them sometimes too. My problem is, no-one ever knows I'm knackered cos I don't complain about it, ever! Vicious circle! I should complain when I'm knackered sometimes but it's just not me
smile.gif

I'm having time off tonight. Taking my friend to the yard with me as she likes to come sometimes, just feeding and doing feet then putting her back out (and praying the OH will have thought to put some tea on as he's staying at home
wink.gif
). When I get home I'm going to desperately try and finish this effing assignment then I might have some time to myself and have a cuppa and maybe even a bath. I struggle to sleep well sometimes so I have to have a routine at least half an hour before I go to bed when I can't watch telly or read or anything like that as I think about it all night as I'm trying to get to sleep
crazy.gif
. I love weekends...

I feel exhausted just reading this thread. I don't know how you folks do it tbh, especially long term.

I am already getting the pre winter blues and am not looking forward to dark mornings etc. I get too spoilt having them live out all summer.

My routine

fall out of bed about 8.00am
check ponio's all have four legs
shower / change and get to work for 9.00am
Finish work and get home by 5.30
Potter down to field to say hello to ponies.
Take dooglie to the park for walk
Back for half six for tea, telly and fun

There's a girl on our yard who works 3 jobs: in a pub, in a shop and at the yard. She gets one day off in 9, the way her shifts work etc. I put breakfast in for her boy in the morning, otherwise she does him all herself (god knows when). She still manages to be friendly and funny and she watches over my boy when she's working on the yard. I think she is a bluddy saint.

It really is amazing how much people are capable of! I know I have it easy compared to some people. And no matter how knackered I am after work I still feel full of energy when I get to the yard too. People at work here say they have a bath or read a book to relax and re-energise, I ride/muck out/groom etc. I know that should make me more tired but I feel ready for anything when I get home (for a while at least). I started this thread to let off some steam, now I not only feel better, I feel damned lucky

Get up at 05:15;
Get to yard (11 miles away) for 06:00;
Get on ned by 06:30;
Have to leave yard by 07:30;
Currently 50-odd miles to work, or between 1.5 and 2 hours;
Go for a walk at lunchtime.
As I get in late, I have to work 'till 18:00;
Home by 20:00;
Review software/websites/look at childrens home ed. stuff;
Bed between 21:00 and 23:30.

But at least on this contract I get to be at home during the week, and I get to ride Dizz most days (when I'm organized!) so I'm happy

Are there any other homebodies now in need of finding a way to justify their existance- please contribute

Luxury!!!
There's 24 of us that live in't shoe box in middle of road, get up 4 hours before I go to bed, eat a cup a' cold gravel before working 28 hours at mill, and pay mill owner for't privaledge....

tell that to youngsters today - they won't believe you!

I am so uplifted to read that other people cram in as much in their day as I seem to
smile.gif

I have three part time jobs that I just about manage to fit in around the children. house, dogs, cat, chickens etc etc.

I seem to spend my life chasing the clock, driving up to 80 miles a day, keeping the horses fit for hunting, helping kids with homework, doing packed lunches and I can't stand the house being untidy and yet...I still stay up until this silly hour on the computer because I find it hard to sleep!
