Stressful text to receive at work!!

So went up and had a look at all the horses, 6 have circular patches on their muzzles. Told head girl and she brushed it off and said they'd just been fighting! They don't all go out in the same field together :confused3: so I'll tell YO when I see her on Boxing Day. Don't want to text her tonight or tell her tomorrow on Xmas day! Might be a slight annoyance but certainly nothing serious. :)

It may not be that serious but it is extremely inconvenient as it spreads rapidly, anyone planning on going to a competition will not be able to go, if 6 are already showing signs it will be on everything they have contact with which means fences to treat, stables, tack etc.
The head girl needs to do her job and get started ASAP not pretend nothing is wrong, if it was my yard I would be very unhappy if it had spread without being noticed by a senior member of staff or for that matter the YO.

Poor thing! My mare has SI and winter is her respite from itching so I'll feel terrible if she gets it and becomes itchy.

We didn't know what was causing it to start with, she had hives all over her back end and neck, so though allergic reaction, have a £450 vet bill for blood tests, steroid injections, 1000 steroid tablets and then discovered the cushing and eventually the ringworm spots appeared, so think it was all related to the cushings due to a lower immune system!

thankfully she doesn't have sweet itch too! poor horses, its always a worry!!

I know I'm just finding it a bit annoying now! We have a shared tack room and the worst affected one is a youngster for breaking so once it's tack has been used the spores will go everywhere in the tack room! YO has had a rare short holiday (got back today) so can't really blame her, I'll talk to her after Xmas. Just resigning to myself to the fact they'll probably get it, irritating but worst things have happened.

Poor old girl!! At least her cushings was found as a result from it and you can treat it accordingly :)

Two of my girls had ringworm this year. Luckily they didn't get it too badly and it cleared up relatively quickly, although I know it must be very frustrating for those who compete and therefore can't while they are contagious.

On the subject of stressful messages, I got one a few years ago from someone telling me they thought my old mare was deeply unconscious, if not dead, as she had been lied down for quite a while and didn't even move when the caller threw carrots over the fence, just in front of her. Cue me ringing OH in tears and asking him to go and check her as he was closer. I was pacing the floor and crying for half an hour, had to close the shop! OH rang and said as soon as he got there and mare heard the gate open she leapt to her feet, whinnied, and trotted over to him :D When he rang me I cried again, with relief this time!

Hehe sounds like someone was tired!! :D a passerby came in to my yard one day expressing concerns about a 'dead white horse'. Roski was having a lovely snooze in the sun!
