Don't know what has gotten into my mare at the minute, poor thing seems constantly stressed. In the field she's pacing (and trashing the field) so moved her last night to a different paddock with a pony right next door, before she had a walkway between them and yet looks like she's done the same. She's given plently of hay which she munch's in between. She's currently out 24/7 and had been since march. If I bring her in to eat she finishes and then starts weaving badly the worst I've ever seen :( she came into season last week but have never seen this in relation to it (I've had her 7 years!) going to try a supplement maybe as hate seeing her like this, any recommendations or ideas gratefully received!
And if u got this far big pat on the back and a box of choccies

My horse has recently become stressy and anxious too. I started him on pink powder yesterday as I feared he was lacking something in his diet (he's been munching trees in the field!) And this morning his bed was nowhere near as trashed, and he stood for cuddles!!! I'm hoping we've cracked it!

MV-hope that its all sorted for you, OP maybe pinkpowder is worth a go?

I own the queen of stress, she's a real diva so I have quite an understanding of what you might be going through and perhaps can offer some useful advice?

The seasons are on a major change right now and the goodness is going from the grass, so the minerals are ebbing. Add to this the change of routine, the colder, shorter days and a mare having her last season and you've got your answer. I see you have had her for a few years, but this year has been and still is exceptional.

Pink powder is a good idea and would also add mag ox. Moving her closer to a field mate was a smart move although if there are others coming in earlier than her and she can see them, this could be winding her up too.

I've noticed that quite a few of the horses are very needy right now and are demanding a lot more attention than is usual, so your not on your own and I'm sure that once things settle we'll be back to our usual insanity.:D

Unless something traumatic has happened at the yard...like cutting crops close to their field or someone letting off fireworks, etc then I would put it down to the weather change. It has become quite cold quite quickly and many horses are sensitive to that. We have one horse on Steady Up and the other on Top Spec calmer and it seems to help a bit. Some calmers work on some horses, others don't so we had to try a few different ones to find what is best for each!

have you always kept her on individual turnout?

She's been out with company in the past and tried about 4 months ago with another gelding at the yard but turned out disastrous as when she came into season he was mounting her and wouldn't leave her be so we gave up rather than risk any injuries to either! Problem is it's a small DIY yard so not many people interested in shared turnout.

Glad to know I'm not the only one and thanks for the replies going to do a little online research into pink powder as in my opinion anything is worth a try!

Also when turned out in company she gets so needy, causes more stress when they are bought in for exercise and she's left. She's like it even if surrounded by others! So usually being out by herself proves better but guess she's just keeping me on my toes!
