I would like some tips regarding my 9 year old mare. She will hack out alone, be caught and taken from the field alone, but if she gets back to the yard and no other horses are there she goes bananas, rearing up in the stable, neighing, spinning around and generally getting in a state - any ideas?!

Some horse's just won't be stabled alone. Separation anxiety doesn't just affect mares, my gelding actually had a stable door down when left in on his own.

My current mare would go bonkers if I left her in the stable alone, I simply wouldn't do it. Horse's are herd animals, it's only natural to react this way to being singled out.

Unless you can bring her in with company, or tie her somewhere that she can see the other horses, I think a supplement like magic or magnitude is worth a try! xx

THis sounds a bit like my girl - magnesium worked well with her. She hasn't been on it whilst she's been in foal as generally it has really chilled her out but she got really wound up the other day and did a little dance in her box for me. I hate seeing her get like that - its quite a wild behaviour
