Why isnt there a equestrian televised competition, similar to Dancing on Ice and Strictly. It might even encourage more people to learn to ride.

Remember Only fools on horses??

It was good, but don't know if I could sit through watching the poor horses. At least with dancing / ice they are only hurting themselves lol!!!!!!

Good idea though, it would be possible as long as they put a lot of thought into it. And more scope for length of series as there are more disciplines!!!

I loved only Fools on Horses, plus it was nice to watch the 'not so experienced' and to be able to shout instructions at the telly!

Don't get me wrong I enjoyed it, but yes, spent most of my time wincing and shouting!!!

And I loved watching Tim Stockdale in the training sessions esp when he got annoyed!!!!!!!!!

I read an article recently from Robert Smith who basically said they wouldn't be able to run something like this again as they would never get the insurance for these "celebrities"

I would imagine that it would be more insurance for riding, as you are putting them on a creature that thinks and does for itself, and then asking them to jump.

Ice skating is dangerous - yes - but surely at the end of the day it is only the "celebrities" actions, rather than the celebrities and the horses actions. If that makes sense...

I went to towerlands to watch Only Fools on Horses with all the girls from my old yard, the tickets were for free - it was a really really long night, so much time lapses inbetween each rider etc, and then you get the runner running up and down telling you when to clap/cheer/boo etc, really staged, - so much better watching it on TV.
