Thanks to the lovely advice from people here, I have found that putting a string girth on her dressage saddle is indeed the answer to preventing Ellie's girth rubs.....the only thing I'm not sure about is the fact that you have nowhere to tuck the girth straps in, unlike a leather/cotton girth. It looks a bit untidy, especially considering the nature of a dressage saddle, where the straps come lower than the panel - has anyone found a solution to this?

Thanks to you both; I may well use some elastic, I think that would work!

kerilli - I often wonder why it is necessary to have a different kind of girth for a dressage saddle. Is it because of the bulk under the leg, or is it simply so they can make more money by selling different kinds?

It's bulk. It's why you see the single flap jumping saddles with much longer girth straps too

But it is rip off Britain too

Amazing - the old adage comes to mind 'what turns around comes around' I think it was. Anyway when I was a child we all used string or webbing girths to avoid the saddle sores the old hunting type of leather girths caused.
