So my horse suffered a puncture wound on her right hind last Monday, and being the dramatic tb she is she thought her leg was broken.
When we trotted her up on the concrete she was making an exaggerated stringhalt-type action with her left hind. I initially thought this was because she was compensating for her right.
I then popped her on the lunge on Tuesday, the action continued, but then I put this down to having back boots on (because horsey-bubble wrap doesn't exist). I rode her Wednesday, again with back boots on and she was sound, and rode Saturday & Tuesday. All sound.
Lunged her last Friday & last night, and the stringhalt action is back. This only happens for a couple minutes max, and is completely fine once moving/warmed up. Sound in walk and backs up fine.
Having the pros at the yard take a look at her today to see if problem is persisting, and having vet out tomorrow to assess but wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar?
Options I have found on Google are:
-Foot abscess
-Stringhalt
-Arthritis (she is only 7)
Thank you!
